Our Story.

Coastwood Furniture was established in 1997 by the Hill family in Greymouth, on the West Coast of New Zealand, starting as a small chair manufacturer with just two designs. Over the years, we have steadily expanded our product range and now craft furniture for every room of the home.

In 2011, we acquired Northwood Furniture, strengthening our expertise in bedroom furniture. This was followed by the acquisition of Galleon Woodware in 2014 and, in 2015, the purchase of Royal Furniture’s intellectual property and key manufacturing equipment—solidifying our place as a trusted name in NZ-made furniture.

Today Coastwood Furniture is a leading furniture supplier to retailers nationwide and operates with a passionate team of over 30 staff. We are committed to crafting high-quality furniture that stands the test of time, backed by New Zealand’s only 25-year guarantee.

Sustainable Timber.

Our furniture is produced using sustainably sourced New Zealand Radiata Pine and American Ash. These have either FSC or PEFC certification, ensuring sustainable forest management. Also used are products such as plywood and MDF which are more suitable for the backs of units, drawer bases, headboard panels, and on some paint-finished units.

There is a high demand globally for quality pine. Ensuring our forests are sustainably managed is essential so that quality timber will be available for generations to come.
